bto – ‘Friends of the Beatson’

Instead of adding to the world’s paper mountain, bto has for the past two years made a donation to charity instead of sending Christmas cards to clients. This year, it chose Friends of the Beatson as its beneficiary because of the high quality of its work for cancer patients and their families.

The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre is Scotland’s largest cancer centre and the second largest in the UK. It is also the lead centre for the delivery of non-surgical cancer care for the West of Scotland. 

Friends of the Beatson, established in 1995, is run by a small group of directors and officebearers who, as former patients of the Beatson wanted “to put something back”. bto’s donation will go towards helping Friends of the Beatson provide practical comfort and support for Beatson patients.

bto’s Chairman, Willie Young, was pleased to hand over a cheque to BBC Sports Broadcaster, Brian Donald, one of the charity’s founding members. Willie said: "bto is delighted to support Friends of the Beatson with this donation. I have been involved with the charity over a number of years and have admired their fundraising efforts. We wish them continued success with the great work they do."
