Paul Motion acted as Solicitor Advocate in a £25 million IP claim related to the design of an offshore wind farm.
Acting for a company in a highly complex Commercial Action involving defective bespoke software. The case was estimated to last ten days in court but was settled out of court.
Acting for a malt whisky producer on a trade mark infringement and passing-off case with both UK and international aspects, the UK elements of which were litigated by Paul Motion as Solicitor Advocate.
Advising on all aspects of a complex transaction (including IP) whereby a UK software company was acquired by a US organisation; the team also advised a bespoke software developer in the North of Scotland who was seeking to raise private and public investment funding: both of these transactions involved the review of numerous lengthy contracts, licences and warranties under significant time pressures.
Regularly advising a High Street retail chain on IP infringement matters arising from clothes designs, branding and labelling.
Acting for a Scandinavian client, to obtain interdict orders preventing harassment of her on Blogs and internet Forums.

Advising a major Scottish charity on the digitisation of its archives and the exploitation of its IP.
Clients wished to utilise Open Source languages, raising issues as to ownership and exploitation of IP rights in view of the terms on which the open source code was licensed.
