From 1 April 2017 the National Living Wage for workers aged 25 and over will increase from £7.20 to £7.50 per hour. The National Minimum Wage will also increase as follows.
- The rate for workers aged 21 to 24 will increase from £6.95 to £7.05 per hour.
- The rate for 18 to 20 year old workers will increase from £5.55 to £5.60 per hour.
- The rate for 16 to 17 year old workers will increase from £4.00 to £4.05 per hour.
- The apprenticeship rate will increase from £3.40 to £3.50 per hour.
- The accommodation offset will increase from £6.00 to £6.40 per day.
From 2 April 2017, statutory maternity, statutory paternity, statutory adoption and statutory shared parental pay will increase from £139.58 to £140.98 per week (or 90% of the person’s average weekly earnings if this is lower). The rate for Maternity Allowance will increase to £140.98 per week (from £139.58).
From 6 April 2017:
- Statutory sick pay will increase from £88.45 to £89.35 per week.
- The maximum amount of a weeks’ pay (used for calculating a statutory redundancy payment or for various awards including the unfair dismissal basic award) will increase from £479 to £489.
- Limit on the unfair dismissal compensatory award will be £80,541 (increased from £78,962)
- Gender pay gap reporting will also be introduced for large private and voluntary sector employers.
