All has gone very quiet in connection with the LDEDC Act and the new Schemes for Construction that will fall under it. You will recall that the LDEDC Act received Royal assent on 12 November 2009 before the general election in May 2010. It addresses a number of long awaited changes to the HGCRA 1996 (Construction Act). Government Business Secretary Vince Cable has announced a review of the 200 new laws which had been approved by the previous Government but are yet to come into force. Further consideration of the Schemes under the Act has been held up because of their inclusion in the review by the Business Secretary. The fate of the new law is not yet known.
