The consultation period with regard to the Government’s proposal to increase the minimum annual leave entitlement to 5.6 weeks (effectively 28 days) has closed and the outcome is awaited. It is anticipated that an additional 0.8 weeks will be introduced from 1 October 2007 and a further 0.8 weeks from 1 October 2008 resulting in all full time employees being entitled to a minimum of 28 days’ holiday each year. Holiday entitlement for part time workers will be calculated on a pro rata basis.
