Claims against doctors and hospitals have been on the increase for a number of years. Handling such claims, particularly from the point of view of the medical or nursing professionals involved is an extremely specialised area and bto has a successful track record in dealing with such claims.
The medical negligence team at bto has considerable experience in representing principally the medical and nursing professions in relation to damages claims, Fatal Accident Inquiries (FAIs) and in dealing with complaints against those professionals, in particular to the General Medical Council (GMC). In addition, we represent the medical professions in disciplinary proceedings brought by their employers and in NHS tribunals.
Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, one member of the bto team, Hilary Steele, practised as a Registered General Nurse in Accident & Emergency, Cardiology and Intensive Care. She was also involved in setting up nursing protocols.
