RTB is abolished on 1 August 2016 – the last working day before this is Friday 29 July, leaving a weekend, potentially, for the submission of RTB applications.
Assuming it is possible for a valid and complete application to be submitted to your RSL’s offices on Saturday 30 or Sunday 31 July 2016 then these will still be valid applications.
Do any / all of your offices receive mail (hand delivered or otherwise) on weekends?
In June and July 2016 an RSL should be particularly careful to:
- Encourage potential applicants not to leave it to the last week, let alone the last weekend, in case their application is incomplete and cannot be treated as valid.
- Keep a record of when applications are received, particularly around 1 August 2016.
- Ensure consistent procedures are in place at all offices (if you have more than one).
For example, when applications are received it would be helpful if the envelope, or other evidence of the date of receipt, is kept with the application to ensure that the date (which may prove crucial) cannot be unclear later.
