BTO Solicitors LLP is delighted to announce five top-tier rankings, three new rankings and advancements within seven legal categories in the latest edition of The Legal 500.
The firm’s tier 1 rankings include three teams within the field of insurance: personal injury (defender) which goes “the extra mile to get results for its clients”, professional negligence and medical negligence (defender), which provides an “excellent and personalised service.” The leisure and hospitality team has also achieved tier 1 status in the real estate category and the health and safety team, led by “leading individual” Clare Bone - one of the UK’s outstanding lawyers - is rated “top of the pile”.
BTO is ranked within a further 19 practice areas and 35 of its lawyers are recommended by The Legal 500. Notable achievements include three new rankings. The sports law team features in tier 2 for the first time since BTO added sports law to its portfolio of legal services with the arrival of partners Andrew Sleigh and Gary Booth in November 2014. The team is praised for its involvement in the merger of the Scottish Golf Union and Scottish Ladies’ Golfing Association and its work for the Scottish Football Association. Also joining the rankings tables are BTO’s intellectual property team and its media and entertainment team, where partner Paul Motion’s advice to claimants on defamation matters regarding social and traditional media, as well as on press regulation issues, is highlighted.
Whilst BTO’s debt recovery and social housing teams have been successful in holding their tier 2 positions, the firm has also secured new tier 2 rankings for its “strong” licensing team, which has climbed from tier 3 to tier 2, as has its family law team.
Also worthy of comment is the leap from tier 5 to tier 3 for the firm’s corporate and commercial team, headed by Jeremy Glen, and its education team, where Partner David Hoey is singled out for his track record on Equality Act matters.
BTO’s Chairman, Alan Borthwick said:
“We are very pleased with the firm’s progress in this year’s rankings. These excellent results, both for teams and individual lawyers, across multiple practice areas, are illustrative of the firm’s true flexibility and its commitment to client service and they reaffirm BTO’s position as a leading Scottish law firm.”
