Ten Solicitors Across the Firm Promoted to Associate Level. Leading independent law firm BTO Solicitors LLP has announced a raft of senior promotions across the firm.
Ten senior solicitors have made the step up to associate level and will now take on more responsibility in their individual teams.
Seven of the newly promoted associates operate within the firm’s hugely successful Insurers’ Representation team which is one of the largest in Scotland. They are: Alistair Barbour, Angus Gillies, Lewis Richardson and Callum Sweeney, who all specialise in handling personal injury claims below £500k; Mark Hastings and Jennifer Mackenzie, who deal with personal injury claims valued over £500k; and Gillian Harman from the Professional Liability team, which is top ranked by The Legal 500 and Chambers UK legal directories.
The other newly promoted associates are: Emma Donaldson, who specialises in advising on wills, tax planning, trusts and estates; Lesley Grant from the firm’s Employment Law team, who practices contentious and non-contentious employment law and is experienced in advising both employers and employees on a wide range of legal issues; and Jamie Reekie, a Solicitor Advocate working within BTO’s Commercial Dispute Resolution team in Edinburgh.
Chairman Alan Borthwick said: “I am delighted that these ten hard-working individuals from a range of disciplines have been promoted and that their contribution to the firm and to the clients with whom they work has been acknowledged.”
These promotions, and BTO’s recently announced Solicitor Advocate appointments which brought the in-house team of Solicitor Advocates to 20, follow on from the achievement of a record financial performance in the firm’s first year of trading as a Limited Liability Partnership.
Alan added: “We are very excited by all of the recent developments at BTO and by our ongoing growth. The latest series of promotions is a strong reflection of the vast range of skills and expertise we have at the firm.”
