05 April 2019
With effect from tomorrow (6 April 2019) the maximum penalty for aggravated breaches of employment rights (payable to the government, not to the worker) will be increased from £5,000 to £20,000 or £40,000 where a financial award is also made to the worker).
With effect from 6 April 2020 the right to a written statement of employment particulars will be extended to all workers (and not just employees). Originally it was anticipated that this right would be introduced this weekend but upon implementation of The Employment Rights (Miscellaneous Amendment) Regulations 2019, we note that the date has been extended by a year.
