Biography
Jamie is an Associate in our Professional Liability team. Jamie was admitted as a solicitor in 2011 having studied law at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to qualification Jamie spent two years working as a Legal Assistant at the Judicial Studies Committee, before training at a specialist litigation firm in Glasgow.
Jamie is a mentor with the Law Society of Scotland and a judge for the Law Society of Scotland’s Donald Dewar Memorial Debating Tournament. He tutors Contract & Unjustified Enrichment and Commercial law at the University of Edinburgh and holds a Masters Degree (LL.M.) in Professional Legal Practice focusing on professional negligence.
At BTO, Jamie currently handles a number of professional liability claims on behalf of solicitors, acting through the Law Society of Scotland's professional indemnity insurers, and he also regularly acts for surveyors, architects, engineers and other construction professionals. Jamie has experience of handling litigation in the Court of Session and the Sheriff Court. He has been involved in the defence of complex and high value court actions and has wide experience in a range of professional, commercial and regulatory matters. He is also a Notary Public.
