Partner and BTO Chairman, Alan Borthwick acts for a wide variety of companies, institutions, investors and developers with commercial property interests. He advises on investment acquisitions and sales, leasing and development work, site assembly and general portfolio management.
Alan also acts for residential housing developers, advising on option agreements, site assembly and disposal transactions. He gives added value as a provider of sound business, as well as legal, advice.
He advises several charities and not-for-profit organisations on various aspects of their business and being on the board/management committee of a number of them equips him with an invaluable understanding of the issues facing such organisations today.
Trustee of the following charities: The Baird Trust and Sir J D Pollock’s Trust; past board and executive committee member of Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) (1993 – 2005); past Council Member of the Law Society of Scotland (1995 – 1998).
