Debbie is an Associate in the family law team. She is experienced in dealing with all aspects of family law including financial provision on separation and divorce, cohabitation cases, prenuptial agreements and cases involving children.
Clients appreciate her warm and straightforward approach as well as her enthusiasm. She resolves cases sensibly and pragmatically.
Despite considerable experience appearing in the sheriff court she seeks to resolve as many cases as possible through negotiation therefore reducing the stress and uncertainty that court proceedings inevitably bring.
Debbie has first-hand experience and expertise of the criminal justice system having previously worked as a criminal defence agent. She is therefore exceptionally well placed to provide expert advice to those who find themselves in that arena, especially in the context of family law proceedings. Unfortunately, during a relationship breakdown, parties can find themselves accused of or being the victim of domestic abuse. It is reassuring for client’s to obtain sensitive and appropriate advice in those circumstances.
Debbie has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in family law. Debbie is a trained collaborative lawyer and is a member of Consensus. She is also a member of the Family Law Association and is a Law Society of Scotland Accredited Mediator.
