Georgia is a Solicitor within our Professional Discipline and Clinical Defence team based in Edinburgh.
Georgia joined the team in March 2018 in her last posting as a trainee and qualified into post in September 2018. During her traineeship with BTO, Georgia also gained experience in the litigation, data protection and health & safety/regulatory teams within the firm.
During her time in the firm, Georgia has gained experience of working on a broad spectrum of cases in both the Court of Session and Sheriff Courts. Cases worked on include complex commercial disputes, high value clinical negligence claims and professional indemnity actions. In her qualified role, Georgia now focuses on the representation of clinicians in regulatory investigations and hearings, as well as clinical negligence claims. She is regularly involved in defending doctors and dentists at fitness to practise proceedings before the General Medical Council and the General Dental Council and often conducts her own advocacy in the Sheriff Court.
Georgia takes the time to thoroughly prepare for and consider all facets of a case and has been praised by both clients and counsel for her attention to detail, empathetic manner and ability to build a good rapport with clients.
Prior to joining BTO, Georgia worked at the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service where she gained knowledge and experience of criminal law in Scotland.
