BTO’s Planning team provides vital support to the firm’s dedicated Renewable Energy team which focuses on projects in the wind, hydro-electric and biomass sectors.
BTO’s Planning team includes key lawyers, Laura Donald, Partner, and Marion Davis, Senior Associate. Laura is a solicitor advocate with experience in representing clients at Public Inquiries. Laura’s planning expertise is in contentious matters. Marion Davis is a former local government solicitor with inside knowledge of the workings of local authorities. Marion’s planning expertise is in non-contentious planning matters.
The team also includes a range of property and construction lawyers with detailed knowledge of the legislation under which the planning regime is run. This multifaceted team works together to achieve commercial solutions for clients within the public and private sectors. If a solution cannot be found or agreed, BTO’s litigators are experienced in seeking judicial review of most types of decision.
The Planning team is available to deal with the practical aspects of negotiating with planners on your behalf, overseeing the planning application process and appealing any unwelcome decisions. Appearances at Public Inquiries, as well as in the Courts, can be conducted economically by our own team of experienced in-house solicitor advocates. Alternatively, appearances can be undertaken by Counsel of your choice supported by a knowledgeable solicitor in the sector.
