Removing damaging internet content can be a challenging and daunting process for clients to attempt on their own as many sites are based in other countries and are set up to make it difficult to contact the administrator. BTO regularly obtains orders to protect clients from online attacks. We have contacts within the legal teams of a number of prominent websites and will engage with them on behalf of clients to arrange for the removal of damaging information.
We find that most clients who consult us for advice on internet reputational issues want the material removed quickly and the author of the material stopped from doing further damage. A traditional award of defamation damages, months or years later, is not of any real value.
