bto is celebrating its move from the first to the second floor with new larger Edinburgh office premises at One Edinburgh Quay, which will allow the firm to continue to grow organically.
bto’s chairman, Alan Borthwick, said: “bto opened its first office in Edinburgh in Great Stuart Street in 1995 – it was a very small office in the New Town, staffed initially by one lawyer and a secretary.
“The Edinburgh team enjoyed steady growth in the intervening years and in summer 2011, we moved to a new office on the first floor at One Edinburgh Quay, one of Edinburgh’s most up-and-coming districts. This move afforded us the opportunity to increase bto’s Edinburgh staff capacity to 30 and during our three years there we have significantly expanded several teams, including construction, clinical defence and family law.
“bto’s new office on the second floor can accommodate up to 100 people. We are making a substantial investment in our new premises and are confident that it will be the catalyst to enable the growth of our client base and increase the range of client services we offer, all of which will secure our future as a premier independent Scottish law firm.”
The firm currently caters for most of the Scots law needs of commercial and private clients, with access to international legal advice through the Mackrell International network and other contacts. Many of bto’s teams are top-ranked by independent legal directories and the firm as a whole has grown substantially over the last decade.
Alan Borthwick concluded: “We are very pleased to have made this move. The new office is airy and bright with plenty of room for everyone and lots of space for expansion. It will be a great flagship for bto in Edinburgh for years to come.”
