Nanette Reid of Linstone Housing Association was presented with the inaugural Committee Learner of the Year Award at SHARE’s AGM last week.
To win the award, not only did Nanette have to record in her Committee Learning Log the learning she had undertaken in the last 12 months, but also she had to state what she had learned and how it helped her be a more effective Committee member.
Nanette was presented with the trophy and a cheque for £100 by Marion Davis of bto solicitors who had sponsored the award. bto provides legal training for SHARE on a regular basis. In particular, Marion, who has just completed a 6 months secondment to OSCR the charity regulator, concentrates on charity law issues.
There were runner up commendations awarded to Jane Dunlop of West Lothian Housing Partnership and Patsy Beaton of Craigdale HA.
Nanette was delighted with her achievement and said: “I must thank Linstone HA for supporting and encouraging me to attend training, conferences and seminars not just in the last year but in all my time on the Committee.”
Rod Hunter, Director of SHARE, said: “Well done to Nanette and the competition will be running again this year. Completion of the Learning Log shows you are taking your development as a Committee member seriously and would be good evidence to show the Regulator that you are developing your skills and knowledge.”
