As Arti’s business grows, and Collette’s work becomes recognised on a national level, they are both conscious that they will require assistance with their tax returns and ongoing financial advice.
They return to Ross in the Wills, Estates and Succession Planning team at BTO to see if he can assist or make any recommendations for financial advisers. He suggests a joint meeting with BTO’s in-house tax expert, who is able to draft and submit tax returns, liaise with HMRC and calculate and pay the relevant tax on their behalf. This is particularly relevant to Collette in her self-employed status.

Following on the back of their successful meeting, Arti encourages his parents to meet BTO’s tax expert as they have dabbled in investments of their own and are in a higher-rate tax bracket than him.
As for financial advice, Ross is able to reassure Arti and Collette that, although BTO does not provide this, he has built excellent business relationships with fellow local financial advisers and offers some recommendations for them to follow up.
Finding a financial advisor, much like solicitors, is very difficult as the relationship is built on trust and understanding. Having such a recommendation is comforting for Arti and Collette and reassures them that they are in safe hands. What could go wrong…?
