The successful candidate will assist a partner on a series of multi-million pound property disputes arising from: product liability claims; fires; negligent acts; breach of contract; and policy disputes. Additionally, the candidate will have their own caseload of files to prosecute.

Candidates must have an excellent knowledge and experience of cases relevant to the role and be familiar with managing the day to day aspects of cases within the Court of Session and Sheriff Court.

Advocacy and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) experience would be an advantage.

Candidates suited to the role will have:

  • good interpersonal skills and initiative;

  • experience of devising effective strategies for clients;
  • experience of running a case load of files and working with counsel and experts;

  • an appetite for networking and business development.

The position is for an Associate (4-8 years PQE). There is a competitive salary, pension contributions and agile working.

The majority of the team are based in Glasgow but there are possibilities to work within our Edinburgh office as well.

The Department

We act on behalf of leading insurers and which provide the bulk of our instructions. We also receive instructions directly from commercial organisations and private clients.

We have a diverse portfolio of commercial disputes within the team arising from: property damage; product liability; professional negligence; construction contracts; the construction of insurance policies; and multi-jurisdictional disputes.

We act in both litigated and pre litigated cases on behalf of both pursuers and defenders. We regularly appear in the Commercial Court.

We use Alternative Dispute Resolution where possible and two of the partners in the team are accredited mediators. One of the partners is a senior solicitor advocate within the team. We actively seek to use solicitor advocates within the cases where appropriate. One of the partners is triple qualified (Scotland, England and Northern Ireland).
