Due to popular demand, bto has presented two social networking seminars in the past eight weeks. The hot topic of Social Networking for Business has caused such interest that the firm is running a podcast from 22 April in association with Business7 and NSDesign Digital Consultancy, an award winning Glasgow web design company.
During the podcast, a practical introduction to the world of social media is provided by bto’s special guest Gary Ennis, MD of NS Design. The podcast explores modern social networking sites, such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube as a means of positively benefiting your organisation by truly engaging your audience and protecting your online brand.
David Hoey, bto Partner and accredited employment law specialist, examines some of the legal and practical issues arising from an employment law perspective, such as: What legal issues arise with the use of such sites for employees and employers? To what extent can (or should) employers control employee use of such sites? How can your Disciplinary and Grievance Policy help? What about an Email and Internet Policy? Are there any practical risks that need to be managed in dealing with these issues?
David Hoey, said: “The cost of failing to consider the legal aspects attached to social networking can be high, ranging from the cost of Employment Tribunal and Court claims, to the effect upon reputation and management resources. These risks need to be carefully balanced with the many benefits of using modern social networking platforms to communicate with customers and stakeholders.”
